Case Study: Latin American Telecom Operator deploys Integrated Uninterruptible Power Systems for 4G/5G Base Stations
May 19, 2026
As 4G network expansion and 5G trials accelerate in Latin America, particularly across coastal and high-altitude regions of Ecuador, telecom infrastructure demands more rigorous reliability from remote base station power systems. In complex Latin American grid environments, frequent voltage dips cause high failure rates and excessive footprint in traditional split rectifier-inverter setups, driving up operational expenditure (OPEX).
The client in this case study is a leading mobile network operator in Ecuador. The application centers on remote outdoor telecom base stations exposed to volatile environments. With limited space inside outdoor enclosures, the site required an uninterrupted supply for both 230VAC AC loads (microwave backhaul/monitoring) and 48VDC DC loads (RF units), necessitating a highly integrated, high-density power footprint.
To address these pain points, we customized and delivered 3 sets of industrial-grade Rectiverter Power Systems. The complete batch was delivered within a swift turnaround time of 8 weeks. Featuring a compact 1U modular design, the system supports scalable capacities from 3kVA to 6kVA via parallel configuration, seamlessly matching standard 19-inch telecom racks.
The 6kVA rectiverter system architecture delivers verified, parameterized reliability for critical applications:
High Efficiency: Achieves >96% efficiency in mains mode (AC/AC & AC/DC) and >94% efficiency in inverter mode.
Power Quality: Delivers clean sine-wave output with THD <1.5% under resistive loads, backed by an input Power Factor >0.99.
Grid Resilience: Features a 5ms hold-up time for voltage dips paired with a >10ms DC hold-up, securing transient-free transfers.
Environmental Tolerance: Built with an IP20 enclosure rating, certified to operate flawlessly from -40°C to +55°C under 5%-95% RH non-condensing conditions.
Following onsite deployment in Ecuador, the operator's Senior Network Director commented: "This high-density Rectiverter system freed up at least 50% of our rack shelf space. The hot-pluggable design drastically minimizes our onsite MTTR. Even at remote mountain base stations with high humidity, we have noted zero site dropouts caused by localized grid distortions."
The execution of this contract underscores our agile 8-week production turnaround and technical tailoring capabilities for South American telecom rollouts. Through modular 3kVA/6kVA power deployments, we continue to empower global B2B enterprises to maximize power availability while optimizing energy metrics under harsh operating boundaries
